Kate Black

Kate Black is a documentary filmmaker, photographer, and stained-glass mosaic artist. She specializes in creating conscious cinema by working with others that are environmentally and socially aware and are developing more effective and efficient forms of conservation. By providing a platform for these unique stories to be shared, Kate aims to work with various communities to create a more inspired, aware, and conscious place to live. 

Kate received her Master's degree in Multimedia Journalism at the University of Oregon and her Bachelor's degree at Northern Arizona University, where she studied Broadcast Journalism. She has worked with esteemed herbalist Susun Weed and her documentary film featuring Powell’s Books was broadcast on OPB’s Oregon Lens, showcasing Oregon-based filmmakers to keep an eye out for. in 2016, She created a miniseries, “Mary Janes” that won the Oregon Indie Episodic Showcase. She has worked with non-profit organizations, performance artists, small businesses, naturopaths, and en ever-changing list of characters that she felt needed a platform to share their unique stories.

Kate is an avid outdoor enthusiast, rock climber, surfer, backpacker and snowboarder who never leaves for an adventure without a camera in hand. Kate has a particular interest in yoga, sound healing, meditation, and spiritual evolution of self as well as the collective. She loves to design artistic collages and creates one-of-a-kind stained glass mosaics and bottle cap art.
